GE Intelligent Platforms has announced the launch of a new feature to enhance its PACSystems controller platform leader in the industry. The new modules incorporate DNP 3.0 Unsolicited Reporting to increase the speed and efficiency of many applications that use SCADA remote terminal units (RTU). DNP 3.0 was originally developed for the electricity sector and is currently used extensively in Water / Wastewater and Oil and Gas.
"When you need a system to query every SCADA RTU, this operation may take a long time, which in turn causes a delay in updating the data," says Bill Black, Controllers Product Manager for
GE Intelligent Platforms. "With Unsolicited Reporting, slave devices can send updates automatically when values change, without waiting for a query from the SCADA."
As applications grow in size, require more I / S solutions and a greater flow of information through them. Obtaining detailed knowledge through the information means to have the most current information and Unsolicited Reporting will get that information immediately instead of waiting for the request for information from the SCADA system.
Unsolicited DNP3.0 Reporting With the RX3i can be configured as a Master Unsolicited (no master computer application) or Unsolicited Slave (slave device without prompting) per port. Thus, the RX3i can collect data from DNP 3.0 slave devices more effectively.
"This new functionality provides the ability to offer PACSystems an open control platform and scalable," says Black.
